Morning: Arrival at Majete Wildlife Reserve

Your Group Safari to Majete begins at 06:00 am where our driver will start to pick you from different areas in town. At 07:00 am you will leave Blantyre to Majete Wildlife Reserve the journey of about 2 hours drive through scenic view of the southern Malawi rolling landscapes. Upon your arrival at the park register and continue to your chosen lodge for check in before embarking on a game drive in an open sided safari vehicle. Our expert guide will take you through the rugged terrain of Majete so you should keep your cameras ready, as you are likely to spot some of the Big Five – lions, leopards, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos. Majete’s successful reintroduction program has ensured that these iconic species thrive within the reserve. In the mi-day get back to the Lodge for hot lunch and short rest.

In the afternoon when the temperature start to slow down you will depart for the second game drive of your group safari in Majete which will last till evening. As you meander through the savannah and woodlands, you’ll also encounter a plethora of other wildlife, including zebras, warthogs, and various antelope species. The guides, with their encyclopedic knowledge of the reserve, will share fascinating insights about the behaviors and habitats of the animals you see.

Evening: Sundowner and Night Game Drive

As evening approaches, your guide will find a picturesque spot for a classic safari tradition – the sundowner. Sipping on a refreshing drink, you’ll watch the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant shades of orange and purple.

The adventure doesn’t end as darkness falls; instead, it takes on a new dimension. A night game drive offers the chance to witness the nocturnal side of the bush. The reserve’s sounds come alive under the cover of night, and with a bit of luck, you might spot elusive creatures like hyenas, civets, or even the rare pangolin.

Morning: Walking Safari

On the second day of your Group Safari in Majete wildlife reserve, you’ll greet the sunrise with a walking safari, an experience that allows you to connect with the African bush on a more intimate level. Accompanied by an armed ranger, you’ll learn to track animals by their footprints and droppings and understand the vital role that the smaller fauna and flora play in this complex ecosystem.

After returning from the walk, you’ll have some time to relax at your lodge. Evening: Departure

As your 2-day Majete safari adventure comes to a close, you’ll pack up your belongings and bid farewell to the wild. The memories and experiences gained over these two days will stay with you forever, imprinted in your heart like the tracks of the animals on the savannah.

Journey to Majete

Our adventure commence with an early morning drive from Blantyre, the commercial capital of Malawi, which is approximately a 2.5-hour journey to the southern reaches of the country where Majete is located. With landscapes morphing from bustling townships to verdant rolling hills and finally to the rugged terrains of the reserve, the journey itself was a prelude to the wild escapade that awaited.

Upon arrival at the gateway of Majete, the air will palpably fresher, and a sense of tranquility envelope You are welcomed to your lodge – a cozy, eco-friendly camp nestled on the banks of the Shire River, the lifeblood of Majete. The camp, blending seamlessly into its surroundings, promise an immersive experience, with the occasional elephant or hippo sighting right from the veranda.

First Glimpse of the Wild

Post lunch, we will embark on our first game drive. The excitement is palpable as we board into the open safari vehicle, cameras in hand and binoculars at the ready. Majete will not disappoint. Within the first hour, we are probably going to be greeted by a herd of elephants, gracefully meandering through the bush, and a pride of lions basking under the African sun. The diversity of Majete’s landscapes – from thick bushland to acacia-dotted savannahs – provided a stunning backdrop to these encounters.

Mid-morning offers a unique adventure – rhino tracking on foot. Under the guidance of experienced rangers, we will set out to track one of Africa’s most endangered species, the black rhino. The thrill of walking through the bush, deciphering tracks, and finally coming within a safe distance of these magnificent creatures is exhilarating. It is a poignant reminder of the fragility of our natural world and the importance of conservation efforts.

Afternoon at Leisure and Sunset Cruise

The afternoon will spent at leisure, with options to explore the camp’s surroundings or simply unwind by the river, watching the parade of wildlife coming to quench their thirst. As the day wan, we will embark on a sunset cruise along the Shire River. This tranquil experience offered a different perspective of the reserve, with hippos, crocodiles, and a myriad of bird species making appearances. Last Safari Drive and Visit to the Community Project

The final day of our Majete Safari began with an early morning safari, a last opportunity to soak in the wild allure of Majete. The reserve will bid us a grand farewell, with sightings of a varied animal species.

Post breakfast, we will visit a community project supported by the reserve’s conservation efforts. It will hearten to see the symbiotic relationship between conservation and community development.
